Kat it's entirely possible that Darren is given a convincing spin as to why fans are bullied on the board, that it's "for their own good" or something. I mean, it's not like we are ever contacted to give our side of why we started "causing trouble" or "being negative" so who knows how these kinds of incidents are described or rationalized? *chuckle*

And it's funny because we talk about the press thinking poorly because of the board and i've seen that arguement used on both sides yet i still have never read an article that mentioned us ever. Hell, we don't even make Fandom Wank! LOL And flaming and fighting happens on every board, as we were discussing in terms of BJ, so it's not like we stand out in that regard LOL

I agree about the frightened part, i remember when i was modding on the Sony board and i'd get these really timid requests to say things or make posts that i had absolutely no problem with LOL And it wasn't like they touched on the guidelines either, the people were generally just concerned that Laurie or i would somehow frown on them for "content" reasons LOL I was like "where did you get the idea i'd be mad?" LOL

Being branded the "bad" type of fan is never much fun. As Steen said the news is generally posted here by kind people and you can always have your say on things either way.

I hear ya Steen I mean of course he gets the edited version. Of course he trust his family to be looking after his interests. Plus from what I have heard over the years he aint the most sensitive guy in regards to fans not thinking that highly of him anyway and is probably a finger trigger banner at heart LOL. NO we are not worthy of mention .. we are the spawned negative people and they honestly never take the time to listen or ask or see it any other way. They never have since day one of that splitsville. Never will.. thats why I gave up on him all of it and trying lol

That locked thread on the public board looks as if it's had more than just Tamara's post deleted. I wish they wouldn't do that because to others who read it later, it doesn't make sense. Either delete the whole thread and give a reasonable explanation as to why it was done or leave it alone I say.

I honestly don't think that Darren knows half of what goes on on these forums because I think he is simply too busy to embroil himself in fan spats. This week he is starting rehearsals for the tour so I'm sure he has much more on his mind that stuff like this. I can't imagine though that he would endorse unkindness being shown to any fan.

I do think there was a seismic change after the SG split though in the way they wanted the boards set up. I'm just guessing that his inner circle wanted a more protective mantle around Darren and possibly his fans in the light of him being unfairly blamed for the split when in reality we now know that it was joint decision but one that in hindsight was badly handled.

It is fairly common knowledge that Darren was incredibly upset at the blame that was heaped upon him from some quarters during this time and because feelings were running so high then, they decided to put in place a board with rather more guidelines and less freedom of speech than we had previously been used to.

I mean I could be talking complete rubbish here, but this is just the way it seems to me and how I can explain the way things have become. I do think though that certain individuals take it upon themselves to exercise those controls rather too strictly and unnecessarily at times with the resultant arguments that mostly ensue.

However, in this case, the person concerned has repeatedly in the past bitched, moaned and complained at anything and everything on the fan club board which is very sad because it seems as though nothing Darren does is ever good enough anymore for anyone. I think he tries as hard as he can to please his fans. Lately, there have been all sorts of messages, announcements, news and information, so it does come across as rather churlish when people start instantly picking things apart. I'm certainly not indicating here that people like Tamara are ungrateful because the US have had precious little since SG split up. That they are disappointed is a perfectly understandable emotion given their situation over there in the US.

I honestly think his hands are tied by the record company as regards to where, when and how many shows he is able to do, but I can well understand how disappointing it is for those in Oz who were expecting rather more than the one show that seems to be pencilled in so far.

Janie i think that makes a lot of sense, regarding everything you brought up.

And i guessed afterwards that the originator of this drama must have been posting elsewhere but honestly, how do those of us who don't visit the fanclub board know what goes on there except secondhand? I think drama on the fanclub board should be kept there and not brought up on the public board where it just causes havoc because we all go "wtf are you talking about?"

I've always advocated the concept of addressing problems on the board they start with. If i thought anything i posted about this issue would remain on the public board, i wouldn't bother posting here about it. But sadly this IS one of the few places where we can actually have discussion about the public board. Those who are on both the fanclub board and the public board actually have the choice to keep it contained, and i think they should.

It's the censorship issue that's the biggest problem with the public board, imo. When only the voices of the favoured few are the ones that are constantly allowed to be expressed, then democracy has gone out of the window. It gives a totally unbalanced pov and let's face it, ends up making absolutely no sense whatsoever to read.

I'm all for deleting profane and 'nasty' personal attacks (I've had a few of my own deleted in the past and rightly so) but all this seemingly random pruning of people's posts just because they offer a different opinion, well that's plainly ridiculous. And as for locking threads that are still active, and especially when the favoured have had their say, that's when the imbalance and unfairness come into play.

As has been said, his public boards offer a very poor representation of the artist himself and very probably drive away potential fans rather than welcome them.

I know that ultimately it is DHs board and as such can be run however he wants it to be. If I dont like that I dont have to post or use. This is the tack I have taken.. I don't use it or post on it at all. I mean I know they dont care about us per se anymore.. but you would think they would want to attract some new users. The fanbase is very small and could do with an injection of new individuals.

The thing is I am use to board guidelines. Heck I use to advocate soo many things back in the day.. always courteous to board rules. You wouldnt recognise me on the Backstage board I am so "rules" oritentated lol. I actually have always been like that.. BUT when I see injustice and things being locked for no good reason other than the 'fam/fan mods" dont personally agree then that just grates. When things are locked and edited with no explanation offered, when the only consistent thing is that your opinions will not be accepted, that is when I question things. When differences arent even allowed to be expressed it is just getting petty and silly.

I mean what are they sooo afraid of on that board??? really?? What is Darren and his people and his family and the mods so damm afraid of?

Personally speaking, I honestly think that the current mods should be let go, except for Laurie, and that Steen should be brought onboard again b/c imo, those 2 as a team ran the best public DH board, and in the correct manner, which actually made being online a thoroughly enjoyable & welcoming experience.

Oh and DH's sister Tracey should <u>never</u> be involved in the deleting of posts or the locking of threads. She should be there only in an informative role and not in an active one. She's far too close to him (obviously) and therefore makes some horrendously bad decisions because of that.

That's my opinion anyway.
